Old Fashioned Safety Razor Set in Olivewood

$300.00

This custom double edge shaving set, was handcrafted out of genuine olive-wood in our shop. Its crisp clean lines and durable utility make this kit a man’s must have.

The brush hair included in this shaving set is made of genuine silver tipped badger hair and produces a terrific lasting lather.

The shaving razor, brushes’, and bowls finish is (Cyanoacrylate–i.e., Superglue) which forms a durable, highly polished coating that cannot be penetrated by water. When using the razor, you can get the handle as wet as you want during use and not worry about the wood being damaged. To maintain the finish you just need to wipe it dry after each use. Don’t buy a handmade razor unless you know exactly what is used for the finish. I make many custom razors each year and this is the only finish that will last for years in the tough shaving environment.

Many of my customers have requested high quality shaving kits for the razor sets they purchase. I highly recommend Ty Bowman and his Etsy shop LifetimeLeatherCo as an excellent source for razor cases. (see link below.)

Have you ever wondered?
Most men consider shaving a daily chore and want to get it over with as quickly as possible. This is where the modern cartridge razors boast the latest technology – now with up to six blades hyped to save you time and effort. Recent generations of men have bought into this billion-dollar marketing scheme, but endure uncomfortable shaves and purchase soothing creams to cope.

Have you ever felt like sleeping in in the morning?
The problem with a modern cartridge razor is that the blades are close together with extremely small spacing between each cutting edge. To get a close shave, your stubble needs to be at a short length, ideally only 24 hours of growth for most men. If you skip a day your hair may become too long, and the cartridge will rip it out instead of cleanly slicing the hair away. And, because of the smaller blade gaps, your razor will constantly clog, and you’ll have to do repeat passes to get a clean shave. Scraping a blade across your skin over and over causes more irritation. Because your face is sore, you skip a day, causing more than 24 hours’ growth, and you’re caught in a vicious cycle of shaves that makes you want to stay in bed.

The cartridge razor itself is only part of the problem. Most mass-market brands of shaving cream are from aerosol cans and contain many harmful chemicals that cause greater irritation while shaving. Many have numbing agents, which simply mask the discomfort of a multi-blade cartridge razor shave. Although they are widely available and inexpensive, long-term use of these products can cause severe drying and premature aging. Those who use mass-market products are easily identified by rough, irritated skin on their faces and necks.

There is a better option available: it’s time to go old school. Over the past decade many men have returned to wet shaving using a traditional safety razor. The double edge safety razor uses a single cutting edge that tracks along the skin at a much more comfortable angle and cuts the hair cleanly without grabbing or pulling it.

So stop cutting off a bad start in the morning, start on the right side of the brush.

Feeling manlier already? We thought so. But more importantly, your facial skin and hair will be healthier too. Sure, it takes a little extra effort and care, but so do all the fine things in life— like that perfectly dry-aged rib-eye steak with a great bottle of cabernet-sauvignon and of course, a well-tailored custom suit. A complete gentleman knows how to shave like one, so go forth and add the traditional wet shave to your list of gentlemanly skills.

These razors are excellent gifts for those hard to get men and women in your life. If you want a custom made handle to your specifications, we have on hand an excellent selection of 30+ different types of exotic woods from around the world as well as acrylic materials local woods, antler and horns. I can take your idea for a custom shaped handle and turn it into a reality at an affordable price.

All purchases help pay our college tuition, thanks for looking!
